Pete is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania and holds the David Lawrence Altschuler Chair in Genomics and Computational Biology at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He architected and launched the Research Institute's Center for Biomedical Informatics in 2006 and has since directed the center, overseeing its expansion in the key areas of genome analysis, translational informatics, application development, mobile health, data reporting and management, and informatics education. He maintains an active computational biology laboratory that develops and applies novel methods to identify the genomic determinants of pediatric disorders, including congenital cardiac defects and neuropsychiatric disorders. Pete also serves as the faculty advisor to CHOP's Bioinformatics Core Facility and as the co-leader of Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) informatics efforts in the CHOP/Penn community. He received his PhD in Molecular Genetics from Washington University in St. Louis.
