CBMi Launches Free iPhone App for Bedside Grading of Adverse Events
The Research Institute’s Center for Biomedical Informatics (CBMi) is pleased to announce the release of its latest iPhone and iPod Touch application, now available for download in the iTunes App Store.
The free application, titled “CTCAE v4.0” in the iTunes App Store, allows for bedside grading of adverse events on the increasingly popular iPhone and iPod Touch devices using the latest approved version of the National Cancer Institute’s Common Terminology Criteria Adverse Events standard. Members of a research team now have access to the 190+ pages of the original document in a portable, highly intuitive, hierarchical interface.
The release of this version of the standard expands upon its predecessor, the CTCAE v3.0 application that was released in January 2010. The availability of both versions allows clinicians, coordinators, and other healthcare providers the flexibility to grade adverse events based on the version that has been approved for use in their specific protocol.
Either version of the CTCAE can be downloaded for free by opening iTunes and searching for “ctcae” or by clicking on one of these direct links (iTunes required):
- CTCAE v3.0: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ctcae3/id351401972?mt=8
- New CTCAE v4.0: itunes.apple.com/us/app/ctcae-v4-0/id378487242?mt=8
Both applications also allow users to bookmark adverse events and categories that are accessed frequently and to search for events across descriptions and categorizations.
