CBMi offers a health informatics residency elective to CHOP residents for those interested in clinical applications of technology, data, and the electronic health record and with a desire to learn more in a fun, interactive style.
Residents at CHOP can learn how to apply the principles of health informatics in the daily practice of pediatrics. In addition they will become more comfortable in facilitating, informing, and leading the selection and implementation of electronic health record systems in a pediatric health organization.
Participants will be expected to complete a mentored project and attend various informatics-related conferences and events. One to two residents are accepted per month and the elective runs every month.
The first resident participant began the elective in September, 2011.
