CBMi Collaboration Awarded First Place at HIMSS 2013

CBMi's Dr. Anthony Luberti and PolicyLab's Elizabeth Brooks, MPH, were awarded first place for their poster "Linking Patient Questionnaires to the EHR: Making Optimal Use of the Waiting Room" at the HIMSS 2013 Annual Symposium in New Orleans, March 3 - 7, 2013.

The poster detailed a project conducted through the collaboration efforts between CBMi, Primary Care, and PolicyLab at CHOP as part of the federally-funded CHIPRA Quality Demonstration Grant. The purpose of this project was to create an easy-to-use, efficient and secure method of allowing patients/families to enter data discretely into the EHR to be immediately available to the office staff for review, interpretation, and use in clinical decision support.

A $9.7 million CHIPRA grant was awarded to the state of Pennsylvania for 2010-2015. CHOP is one of seven health systems partnering with the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare to improve the quality of pediatric care for children enrolled in Medicaid and CHIP. CHOP's CHIPRA team is leading efforts to integrate electronic screening and referral processes into primary care and the EHR to improve early identification of developmental and behavioral concerns.

CBMi's Dr. Robert Grundmeier, Ryan O'Hara and Svetlana Ostapenko also contributed to this study.
