CBMi Collaborates with CHOP’s Center for Childhood Cancer Research
The Translational Informatics Unit (TiU) of the Center for Biomedical Informatics (CBMi) has developed a unique partnership with the Center for Childhood Cancer Research (CCCR). This partnership supports the CCCR's goal of bringing together the diverse talents of investigators involved in the Hospital's multidisciplinary pediatric cancer patient care, research and genomics programs.
The efficient, real-time capture and management of clinical and research data is an essential component of cancer-based research. Integrated systems that cover the spectrum of laboratory and clinical activities include sample and patient registry, clinical trial data management and capture, reporting, and analytics.
Under the agreement, the CCCR, directed by John Maris, MD, has exclusive access to a TiU analyst who is responsible for maintaining current systems and mobilizing CBMi staff to implement additional integrated systems. As the needs of a multi-faceted organization such as CCCR will likely change over time, this "leasing" model provides CCCR with access to the full CBMi talent pool, and allows for continual alignment of resources and needs.
CBMi expects to offer the translational informatics analyst leasing model to additional centers of emphasis, departments and laboratories as activities in translational research continue to evolve within the Joseph Stokes Jr. Research Institute.
